Body Art Sightings

Happy Friday! Just wanted to share some fun observations I've made this week. With the warm weather comes more bare skin, and what better way to show off your individuality than with some fun body art? I spotted some great examples of how to temporarily add some art to your body...

British makeup pro Ismaya Ffrench’s bold makeup was featured in the May issue of  Teen Vogue. The look was called ‘the only accessory you’ll need this festival season’. She draws her inspiration from her own teenage rave days in London. She says you don’t need a steady hand to apply this makeup. “Be carefree and just doodle.”

Mr. Kate gems and golden freckles from her Beautymarks collection of temporary tattoos were all over Coachella! Check out these happy Instagrammers in their Mr. Kate swag.

And check out this DIY henna-inspired glitter tattoo I came across on Pinterest. It 's the perfect no-commitment way to add some drama to your day at the beach.

Art Objects by Tamara Hensick

Sometimes an object can convey a simple yet profound message in a way that just words alone cannot. Artist Tamara Hensick makes these diminutive pewter sculptures by hand with messages to inspire, encourage and send out all kinds of feel good vibes!!! When I came across these on The Grommet I absolutely fell in lust with them. Doesn't everyone need a (very cool) reminder to stay the course, reach high, be courageous and to aim for the stars?

Celebrities and Spring Dye Trends

Spring is here and it's festival season too. What better time to get a little wild with your hair? Celebrities are dyeing their hair (Tori Spelling even dyed her dog's fur along with the Easter eggs) in the latest HOT colors. The mermaid trend is all about turquoise hair, preferably long and flowing, while pastel and bright pink are debuting on famous heads as well. Do you dare?

Line of Sight

John Bramblitt is a painter. He is also a blind artistic spirit. Blinded by epilepsy at age 11, Bramblitt has learned to "see" the world around him and translate it into glorious, colorful images. He uses Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint to guide him. His story is inspirational and his art is awesome!

DIY Weaving

DIY weaving is a huge trend based on an ancient art. Fiber arts in general have enjoyed a resurgence in the past decade including crochet, knitting, macramé, felting and weaving. Just this month I've spotted several bloggers sharing tutorials on weaving simple, decorative pieces. You can make your own loom or you can find them at craft stores and retailers with their finger on the pulse of pop culture, like Urban Outfitters. Pinterest offers lots of inspiration for all skill levels, while DIY bloggers offer step-by-step tutorials to make your loom and your project.

Jen's Picks for Valentine's Day

The love month is just around the corner. Even though it's still January I thought I'd share some of my favorite picks for Valentine's Day. If you love to make things yourself, this DIY Heart piñata by Made + Remade provides a full tutorial for creating this token of your affection. Fill it with love notes and conversation hearts! If your lover plays guitar this engraved guitar pick by Free People is the perfect gift.

Sundance has this handmade clay-fired porcelain bowl that is yummy! Perfect for holding rings or soap. I also LOVE these printed notecards - such a sophisticated way to send your love. No more store-bought Valentines for me.

What motif says love like a heart and arrow? These pewter measuring spoons from Terrain are the bomb! They are like jewelry for when you cook. And who wouldn't love a succulent garden in a heart-shaped cement planter? You can DIY this or get yours here.

Let an arrow pierce your ear like this one found on Pinterest. It's edgy and cool. Find earrings like these on Etsy.
