Watercolor Trend S/S 2010

Donna Karan

Charlotte Russe
When I was in college as an art major I took many painting classes. By far my favorite painting style was watercolor. I loved it because it was so fluid, self-expressive and inspired by the mix of light and color and water. From a technique perspective I loved it because I could layer color, it dried fast and it was an easy clean up. I still love it today for the exact same reasons. Now that it's a fashion trend I can't wait to make my next watercolor painting on my wearables instead of on paper.

Farfetch.com

Clothes are now the best canvas for fashion designers who are offering inspiring and artistically creative wearables based on the water color prints trend for 2010. The technique is often impressionistic and dreamy, with vivid hues and ethereal palettes in florals and broad brushstroke patterns.

Suri Cruise: Get Her Some Fashion Art Paint!

I saw this today and thought to myself.....Miss Suri Cruise needs some Fashion Art Paint! She's only four, but she's already a fashionista who generates as much buzz as her famous parents. Glad to see she can be a kid and make her mark when she's feeling creative. I would love to see what she can do with some seriously fun art supplies.

Clever Use of Eclipse Mania

OK, so you'd have to live in a cave to NOT know that "Eclipse", the third installment of the mega-profitable "Twilight" film series, staring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, opens in theaters on July 1. I am attending a special VIP premier on June 30. Mostly I am doing this because I have friends who are fanged fanatics and I get such a kick out of their crazed behavior. When I finally chose a "team" to be on, I chose Team Jacob. Well, THAT decision almost got me a neck bite! But, I digress........

Here's how the Grizzlie and the Central California Blood bank are promoting their thing while taking full advantage of the Eclipse movie premier:

FRESNO, CA - In recognition of the pop culture phenomenon that has swept the nation, the Fresno Grizzlies will celebrate Twilight Night on Saturday, June 26th at 7:05pm at Chukchansi Park. The event will take place on the evening of a lunar eclipse, in advance of the highly anticipated third installment of the popular film series. At the core of the Twilight craze is one of the most hotly debated topics in recent memory, which can be summed up succinctly in one question: Team Edward or Team Jacob? Fans voted through the Grizzlies' Facebook Fan Page during the month of May between a customized vampire (Team Edward) or werewolf (Team Jacob) jersey. The winning jersey will be worn by the Grizzlies during Twilight Night and will be announced in the week leading up to the game. The game-worn jerseys will be available for purchase through a live charity auction after the game, with proceeds aptly benefiting the Central California Blood Center. In addition, the Grizzlies will be giving away passes to the midnight premiere of Twilight: Eclipse, playing at midnight on Wednesday, June 30th. The first jersey auction winner will receive four of the coveted passes, as will the largest auction bidder that evening.

Barnes & Noble is having an author signing - Join author Gina Myers as she promotes her book, The Twilight Cookbook. These recipes will delight any fan. Speak with Gina and pick up a signed copy today. Saturday July 03, 2010 2:00 PM Now that's something you can really sink your teeth into!

Tulip & 77kids Denim Decorating

I found this on Denimblog.com:
On Sunday, June 13th, 2010, many celebs and other stars channeled their inner artists at the 77kids by American Eagle Denim Decorating booth at the safari-themed 21st annual Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation “A Time For Heroes” Celebrity Picnic. The star-studded event was held at Brentwood’s Wadsworth Great Lawn in Los Angeles and featured interactive activities for over 100 celebrities and their families throughout the day.
The Denim Decorating booth by the fashion favorite kid-cool clothing line 77kids by American Eagle provided an exciting carnival activity for children, celebrities and their families to design, bedazzle and paint customized boys and girls jeans.

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation funds critical research, launches global health programs and is an advocate for children’s health, all in the fight against HIV/AIDS and to give hope to the children and families living with this global disease.
I was excited to see our paint featured in so many of the photographs!

The Happiness Test

I have this really happy co-worker who knows I have made numerous references to The Happiness Trend lately. She read my blog yesterday and sent me this test that measures your happiness quotient. I am sure she scored in the Pollyanna range, which is great, really. I mean it. This woman is upbeat and cheerful, rarely rattled by life's little curve balls. In fact, when I am around her I feel challenged to take a more optimistic approach to my day. Her happiness is contagious. Truth be told, I enjoy the Pollyannas of the world much more than the Eeyores. As for me, I consider myself pessimistically happy, realistic about my odds in life. Take the test. Find out how happy you are. My score? Pretty much what I thought......
